1. Division Scope (Materials and Mechanical Behavior)

  • Nanotechnology – materials, mechanics, nano-reinforcements and composites
  • New fibers, resins, product forms
  • Sensors - health monitoring – sensors
  • Multifunctional materials – smart materials
  • New sandwich materials - foams and H/C
  • Cosponsored items – new test methods, new analysis techniques, and new processes.

3. Funds
No fiscal resources exist within the Division, nor is any member of the Division empowered to obligate the Division, its officers or the ASC to a fiscal liability.

4. Election of Officers
The co-chairperson shall be elected by the Division of the ASC annual conference every two years. The co-chair shall succeed the chairperson after a tenure of two years as co-chairperson.

5. Special Opportunities and Awards
The Division may see fit to recommend the development of short courses, awards, or publications, in addition to other special activities. Such opportunities will form the basis for a formal action on the part of the Executive Body of the ASC for resolution at the annual meeting of the ASC.

6. Amendments
These terms of reference may be altered by majority vote of the Division membership present at the annual meeting, subject to approval by the Executive Board.
