The 27th Annual Technical Conference of the American Society for Composites (ASC) was held from October 1–3, 2012, at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel in Arlington, Texas. The conference was organized jointly with the 15th US–Japan Conference on Composite Materials (JSCM) and ASTM Committee D30, and was hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington.

Chaired by Prof. Wen Chan (UT Arlington), with co-chairs Prof. Stefan Dancila (University of South Carolina) and Prof. Seiichi Nomura (University of Tokyo), the conference brought together an international community of researchers and practitioners under the theme “Composites for a Sustainable World.”

The technical program included 157 peer-reviewed papers across a diverse range of topics such as automated manufacturing, nano-scale composites, energy applications, interlaminar reinforcement, bio-based materials, structural health monitoring, and life cycle analysis.
