The 9th Annual Technical Conference of the American Society for Composites was held from September 20–22, 1994, at the Clayton Hall Conference Center at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. The event was co-chaired by Prof. Tsu-Wei Chou and Prof. Jack R. Vinson.

The 1994 conference featured 124 technical papers, presented across four concurrent sessions. The topics spanned polymer, metal, and ceramic matrix composites, reflecting the diverse scope of composites research at the time.

This conference held special significance as it coincided with the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Center for Composite Materials (CCM) at the University of Delaware. The event recognized the impact of CCM on advancing composites science and technology through a plenary session honoring past CCM Medal of Excellence recipients.

Plenary speakers included:

  • Prof. Stephen W. Tsai
  • Prof. Tsuyoshi Hayashi
  • Dr. Karl M. Prewo
  • Prof. Derek Hull
  • Prof. R. Byron Pipes

Special thanks were extended to the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Center for Composite Materials at the University of Delaware for sponsoring the event. Appreciation was also expressed to the Scientific Committee, the Organizing and Registration Committee, and especially to Carolyn Basalla and Barbara Hager for their logistical support and editorial coordination.
